Over the last decade the closets of new master bedrooms have gotten bigger. The main reason for this trend seems to be the fact that a women desires more closet space which is preferably separate from their husband's.
What about the people who do not need a large master closet or are not married? When this happens, it is a good idea to know what you can do with all the extra space a large closet provides.
People have been known to do some crazy things with big closets including turning them into reading rooms, offices, and even a tanning room. Not everyone needs ideas like those and most people just fill up the space with extra chests of drawers or maybe install and island in the middle of it to store and lay things on. Whatever you decide to do with your master closet, make sure you do something that retains the value of your home. Be mindful that you might like your office closet but someone else might not when the day comes to sell.
If you have one of these really big walk in closets, you suddenly might be faced with problems of lighting it adequately. If your closet is not near a window or is too big to be lit by the main light in the room, you will need to find some way to effectively light the closet so that you can see what is in there.
One of the neatest lighting possibilities is track lighting. Unfortunately, this is only a good solution for very fancy and large closets. The majority of people who are lighting standard sized closets ten to used ordinary and bland fluorescent or other standard lights There is also the option of using battery operated lights which can be placed on any wall in the closet and turned on and off as needed.
There have been a growing number of closet companies that will professionally redesign your closets and put in custom fixtures. These custom closets can be quite spectacular if you want to spend a lot of money or they can be pretty basic if you want to spend less. Usually people just want to add more space to hang things and shelves to store things but a lot more can be done if the person chooses to.
