A top French tourist resort, Nice is located in southern France on the Mediterranean coast between Marseille and Genoa in the Provence-Alps-Côte D'Azur region.

The Promenade des Anglais, running alongside the waters of la Baie des Anges, offers beautiful ocean views and is also home to some excellent bars and restaurants. The Negresco's now famous pink dome, the work of Gustave Eiffel, stands out against the blue sky. And those strolling by should look out for the doormen, bedecked with red-plumed postilion hats, they evoke days gone by, bringing to mind an 18th-century elite bourgeois household.

Visitors will find beaches aplenty sweeping the five-kilometre stretch between the end of the Promenade des Anglais and the foot of the castle hill. You'll have the chance to experience a little glamour at one of Nice's 15 comfortable private beaches, punctuated along the Baie des Anges by the public ones. They offer the luxury of sun-loungers, parasols and towels for rent, while those wishing for a more authentic experience can brave the pebbles of the public beaches. Private Beaches

It is easy to distinguish the private beaches from the public ones - they tend to be fenced off, with orderly sunbeds, flags and waiter service. A popular choice, they can get extremely busy during July and August but you can often reserve your sunbeds in advance by telephone (the local Office du Tourisme can provide the numbers for you). The cheapest option is often to hire a sunbed just for the afternoon, but remember this is when the sun is at its hottest.

Castel Plage - claims to be Nice's prettiest beach, truly a “beautiful place for beautiful people”. It lies at the eastern edge of Nice’s beaches, boasting a wonderful view of the bay and a promenade lined with elegant palms and artistic sculptures.

Beau Rivage - the private beach of the Hotel Beau Rivage. This is your chance to indulge with a little four-star pampering “a la niçoise”.

Blue Beach - alongside the Promenade des Anglais and surrounded by some of the most prestigious hotels in Nice, this child-friendly beach has a small children's pool and restaurant.

The Sporting Beach - just next door to Blue Beach, the clue is in the name and all your paragliding needs will be taken care of here.

Public Beaches

Plage Publique de Beau Rivage - a free beach with good facilities so no wonder it gets busy! Get there early to grab a good spot.

La Reserve - a small beach to the east of the harbour, beside the Nice Sailing Club

Starting at Noosa Heads, which is known for being a fashionable resort town on Laguna Bay at the mouth of Noosa Village. The clifftop views here are unbelievable. Leaving this location you will head to Eumundi, a 19th century timber town which is the starting point of the ascent to the hills. Wednesday and Saturdays are a great time to visit there because of the outdoor fresh markets. Next stop on this tour is Yandina. On the way to Mapleton, stop at the Dulong Lookout situated at the top of the escarpment. The views are exhilarating " rolling green hills to the east and dense forest to the north. Take the time to explore tiny Mapleton Falls National Park which preserves remnant rainforest and a 120 metre waterfall. The road from Mapleton to Flaxton traces the ridge of the Blackall Ranges offering magnificent views east and west .Just south of Flaxton is the turn-off to Kondalilla National Park, a small park where over 100 bird species have been recorded. This is also where you will find Kondalilla Falls, an impressive 90metre cascade with a rockpool suitable for swimming perched on top!

Between Montville and Maleny is Gerrard Lookout -375 metres above sea level. It takes the entire spread of the Sunshine Coast from the high rise of Caloundra to the dense coastal forests around Noosa Heads.Balmoral Lookout, a few kilometers further along offers views across farmland to nearby Lake Baroon and westward to the forests around Kenilworth. Beyond Maleny is Mountain View Road which provides breathtaking views of the Mountains .At McCarthys lookout a sign identifies the peaks including those of the Glass House Mountains. Further along, visit Mary Cairncross Park named after the famous environmentalist where there are walking tracks and a natural history centre.

The old Gympie Road cuts through the middle of the Glass House Mountains veering south just ahead of Landsborough .There are 16 volcanic plugs and peaks rise abruptly from the plains reaching a maximum height of 556 metres.Many of these walks require rock climbing ability but there is an easier two hour return hike up 253 metre Mt Ngungun via the township of Glass House Mountains.

The appeal of wrought iron patio furniture certainly begins with its strength and durability. It is solid and substantially stronger than its wooden and plastic counterparts and requires less care in the long run. It can be left out at the mercy of the elements and with only basic care will last for decades.

Wrought iron is actually an ancient art form where square or round iron bars are heated up until red hot and then drawn, twisted and bent into decorative shapes. The only real weak point in any wrought iron patio furniture piece are the points where the individual parts are welded together. If these welds are well executed, the furniture will quite realistically last for many years. One point to take note off when looking at these sets are these welds. If they appear flimsy or rough choose another set. Badly welded joints can compromise the strength of the piece and cause cuts or tears in clothing.

The construction of wrought iron furniture, by its very nature, adds an individual, unique character to each different piece that cannot be found in plastic patio accessories. These furnishings are also available in a large selection of different texture and colour finishes. Combined with the wide range of fabric choices in the cushions makes this furniture a veritable chameleon when it comes to blending in with existing decor.

Wrought iron patio furniture requires an absolute minimum of care to maintain. Periodic checks for chips and scratches in the paint and occasional cleaning are all that is needed to keep your set in tip top condition for many years. Particular attention should be paid to the furnitures feet as this is often where the most wear and damage occurs.

Chips and scratches should be sanded out with a medium roughness sandpaper to remove all possible rust and loose paint. The cleaned scratch can then be touched up with rust treatment and painted with appropriate enamel paint. This prevents wrought iron items biggest enemy, rust, from taking hold.

The metal furniture should also be cleaned periodically. This is best done with a large plastic brush and a warm, soapy solution made with dishwashing detergent. The easiest way to do this is to move the set into the sun, remove the cushions and hose the units down to remove all excess dust. Give them a good brushing down with the soapy water then rinse off with the hose and allow to dry.
